Doggie DNA
Wondering what your dog really is? Yes, there is a DNA Test for your dog. Whether you have a Mutt of a purebred without papers, it is a good idea to do a DNA Test on your dog to find out his/her history. Your dogs background will provide a lot of insight into their personality.
Every breed has distinctive characteristics. Knowing the breed or multiple breeds that your dog is comprised of can help you provide them with a healthy and high quality lifestyle. Once you determine the history, research the breeds and what they were originally breed for. You may find that you can make your pooch a lot happier by utilizing their natural instincts. For example, if you have a herding dog such as a Border Collie, research the local area and try to find other Owner who teach their dogs how to herd. Allowing a dog to use their natural instincts in a sport or fun activity is not only great exercise but a it is also a great way to build a stronger relationship between your dog and yourself.
Please note, that DNA Tests do not include the American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) as a recognized Breed, because they only utilize breeds listed by the AKC. However, the APBT derived from other breeds many centuries ago. If you own a Pit Bull, order the DNA Test Kit. You may be amazed at the results.
These tests are extremely easy to use. You are provided with detailed instructions on how to use the kit and all you have to do is send it back in the pre-paid package.
Purchase a kit today and find the answer you have been waiting for.

Story No. 1 - Andrea Brown, Goose Creek, SC
My Pitty Story (in case you are interested):
Jan 1999 - my new husband and I adopted 2 german shepard/ golden retriever mixes from the ASPCA- we named them Cody and Gavin. We wanted to try and keep dogs alive b/4 we tried a kid. It went really well! Feb 2001 our son Zach was born. Cody, Gavin and Zach were the lights of my life. My family was perfect. Fast forward (to make a long story a little shorter) to Dec 2008. Cody had a huge lump on his neck that was diagnosed as thyroid cancer. I was told it was inoperatable. In May 2009 I had to make the tough decision to put him down b/c he had gotten so bad so quickly. I was sick - literally. This was a Thursday morning. I couldn't get out of bed for 3 days. My heart actually heart. But, Zach had to attend a Bday party on Sat so I had to go. The mom hosting the party asked me how I was b/c she knew I put Cody to sleep. I immediately burst into tears. Another mom at the party ask me what was wrong. I told her I had to put my baby to sleep. I was inconsolable. That woman looked me straight in the eye and said, "A puppy will make it better!" I was like - "You stupid M**her F**er!!, I don't want a puppy!!!! I want my Cody back!!!" But, she proceeded to tell me about these 2 dogs she had rescued from the side of the road that needed homes. (as a side note - this is kinda her deal in life, she rescues dogs, gets them vet care and tries to find them homes. She had 13 dogs at the time) NOPE - no puppy for me - I was grieving. But, somehow, as day went on, I started asking questions about the female puppy she had. I couldn't / wouldn't take the male b/c I still had Gavin and I was worried about taking on another male dog with him in the house. Well, at the end of the day I was following this woman 1.5 hrs to her house to pick up a female pit bull she had named Patches (my Sammie). LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT!!! Especially for my husband as soon as I got home and he laid eyes on her. This was May 2009. I saw the male pit bull in a cage outside. He was beautiful! and his image in that cage haunted me for many months. Sammie fit like a glove into our family. Don't get me wrong - she was a pup who was kept outside in a cage. She had NO manners! She ate everything in sight - couches, shoes, countless stuffed animals, DVD's, XBox games, Wii Games etc... But unconditional love prevailed. Gavin and Sammie were fast friends. As time went on, I couldn't forget about that male pit bull I had seen. Months of working on the hubby to get another dog, there was something about that dog, something sad, some unlocked potential I had seen made my heart long for him. Oct 2009 we were on our way to pick up Cooper (she had named him Chili, but he didn't know his name) Ahh Cooper.. he is so super duper! (sarcasm) I think he was left outside in a cage just a little to long and all the heat fried his brain. (more eaten couches, games DVD's etc..) He is the dumbest dog you will ever meet. But he is also so full of love it is funny. I think he knows he got a 2nd chance at life. One that doesn't include an outside kennel. I joke about him being dumb. He is actually very smart, it just takes a while to pry it out of him. Both pits have passed the temperament tests. Sammie is more loving and caring. My plan for her is to train to be a therapy/ hospital dog. Cooper is rambunctious. I am planning to train him for dog agility and dock dog. His jumping ability is amazing. On a sadder note, Gavin had to go live with my mom, which is OK b/c she lives 10 houses away. Gavin couldn't get along with Cooper (Cooper was fine w/ Gavin but the old boy didn't enjoy the male pup). My mom has a 6 yr old Newfoundland that Gavin adores. The 2 old men are living together. I didn't know anything about Pit Bulls until I fell into owning 2. Now my mission in life is to educate and be a champion of the breed. I love these 2 dogs more than words could ever describe. Their potential is amazing. I will never own any other breed!! I had (and have) german shepard / golden retriever mixes, which by definition are GREAT dogs, but these pits, they are something VERY special.
